The Butterfly Project
November 8, 2020
Here at Gwynedd, The Butterfly Project is about to take flight. It was founded by four sophomores-Ava Harvest, Megan Myers, Trinity Meehan, and Emily Bilko– to raise mental health awareness within the Gwynedd community. They began this project through the LEAD4CHANGE program this summer, and through this initiative, they will start genuine conversations about mental health at Gwynedd to reduce the stigma around it. Megan Myers, the director of communications for The Butterfly Project, explains, “We want to empower and educate young women on the importance of mental health.” Their initiative will sponsor future activity periods and provide girls with the proper mental health resources, keeping the discussion about mental health alive every day at Gwynedd. They hope that this project will help girls become the best versions of themselves and to remind them that when it comes to their mental health, the Gwynedd community will always support them.
