On October 24th, the Gwynedd Crew Team raced at the Head of the Charles Regatta in Boston, Massachusetts. The day of competition began with the Women’s Youth Four. Members Ava Gross ’23, Mia Van Mater ’22, Kate O’Connell ’22, Maddie Gibson ’22, and Isabella Yanez ’24 captured 70th place among many strong competitors.

Following this, the Women’s Youth Coxed Quad composed of Mara Howard ’22, Grace Cheeseman ’22, Sophia DeSantis ’24, Bryn Delaney ’23, and Haley Thomson ’23 charged down the course. Despite being a new category at the Head of the Charles and a new event for the Gwynedd Crew Team, the team members were highly competitive against many well-established sculling programs. The group of five finished strong, achieving 41st place.

Finally, the day concluded for the Gwynedd Crew Team with the Women’s Youth Eight. Team members Rose Imbesi ’22, Katie Hess ’22, Brynn Romberger ’22, Breylan Petka ’24, Amanda Murray ’24, Sam Yuen ’23, Olivia Guarnaccia ’22, Erin Ernst ’23, and Grace Heenan ’22 rowed a great race while navigating numerous other boats. The team finished in the top half, placing 39th and securing a bid for the 2022 Head of the Charles Regatta! Way to go Monarchs!!!
