On Friday, March 6, Gwynedd Mercy Academy High School rolled out a heartfelt welcome for the incoming freshmen during its annual Mercy Mania celebration. The newest members of the community got their first real glimpse of Gwynedd’s strong sisterhood and had the chance to meet the classmates who will soon become familiar faces.
The evening kicked off with an energetic entrance: each freshman left their parents and ran through a tunnel of cheering Gwynedd students decked out in red and gold. From there, the girls were placed into small groups where they met new friends and stepped outside their comfort zones. Each group headed to a classroom for icebreakers and a variety of fun activities—such as Starburst questions and hair-tie making—that helped everyone get to know one another.
When the freshmen entered the PAC, they watched a video tour of the school, enjoyed a skit performed by the juniors, and joined the rest of the student body in spirited cheers. By the end of the night, the incoming class experienced the strength of the Mercy spirit and formed connections that will stay with them throughout their high school journey.
Overall, the event was a tremendous success. It was full of excitement, warmth, and community. The juniors did an outstanding job organizing the evening, and the underclassmen offered a gracious welcome. While starting high school can feel overwhelming, Mercy Mania left the freshmen eager for the fall and reassured that they are joining a supportive, vibrant community.
