On Saturday night, Gwynedd Mercy Academy High School didn’t look like a high school at all — it looked like a cozy corner of Dublin. McAuley’s Pub Night transformed the gym into a lively Irish pub, complete with festive decorations and plenty of Gwynedd spirit. Hosted by the Fathers Club, the night brought together parents, faculty, and friends of the school for an unforgettable evening.
From the moment guests walked in, they were immersed in the Irish pub atmosphere. The Fathers Club truly outdid themselves this year, creating a space that felt warm, welcoming, and authentically “pub-like.”
One of the biggest hits of the night was the lineup of games. The human slot machine had guests lining up to try their luck, while the virtual horse racing had everyone cheering loudly for their chosen horse. There was even Irish dancing, which added to the festive energy and had the crowd estatic. Whether you were feeling lucky or just there for the fun, there was something for everyone.
Of course, no Irish pub night would be complete without a proper bar. The Guinness bar was a crowd favorite, serving up the classic stout and adding to the authentic feel of the evening. It quickly became a popular gathering spot for guests.
Another highlight of the night was the raffle basket bidding. The baskets were creative, generous, and highly sought-after, sparking some friendly competition throughout the room. From themed gift sets to local experiences, there was truly something for everyone — and all for a great cause. All proceeds from Gwynedd’s largest adult social will be used to modernize classrooms in the original 1955 portion of the school.
Most importantly, the night was a testament to the strength and spirit of the Gwynedd community. As the Junior Class Parent Representative of the Fathers Club shared, “The attendance was so great this year that more tickets were sold than at any other time in the event’s history.” The incredible turnout made the event even more special and speaks volumes about the support for Gwynedd and its mission.
A huge thank you goes out to everyone who attended and made the night so lively and memorable. Special appreciation also goes to the Fathers Club for leading the charge, as well as the faculty and parent volunteers who worked behind the scenes to organize, decorate, set up, and ensure everything ran smoothly. The night would not have been possible without the many generous sponsors as-well. Events like McAuley’s Pub Night don’t happen without countless hours of planning and dedication.
McAuley’s Pub Night wasn’t just an event — it was a celebration of community, generosity, and school pride. Sláinte to another fantastic year, and here’s to making next year even bigger and better!
