As the Advent season begins, the students of Gwynedd Mercy Academy High School have been engaging in thoughtful reflection and spiritual preparation through Adoration at the seminary. This special time has offered a quiet space for students to pause amid the demands of school life and consider the deeper meaning of Advent—the anticipation of Christ’s coming.
Leading up to Advent, students have had the opportunity to participate in Adoration, spending time in prayer, meditation, and personal reflection. These moments have encouraged contemplation on hope, peace, joy, and love—the four pillars of the Advent season—and have invited students to consider how they can embody these virtues in their daily lives.
In addition to this personal reflection, students are incorporating Advent themes into their classes and personal practices. Many are finding ways to engage with the season through acts of service, journaling, and setting intentions for how they can bring mercy and compassion into their community. These reflections not only prepare hearts for the celebration of Christmas but also foster a deeper understanding of Mercy values in action.
Though quiet and contemplative, these weeks of Advent reflection at the seminary have provided a meaningful start to the season. Students are learning that Advent is not only a time of waiting but also a season of preparation—preparing one’s heart to bring light and hope into the world.
