This Valentines Day, Gwynedd Mercy Academy celebrated the beginning of Lent with an Ash Wednesday liturgy. Father Brandt gave a beautiful homily about fasting and our commitment to God. Afterword ashes were received by everyone, regardless of their Christian denomination, to show the repentance for our sins. Throughout the next forty days of Lent, Catholics focus more on God through prayer, abstinence, fasting, and almsgiving. We work on our self-improvement until the final celebration of Jesus rising from the dead on Easter Sunday.
