On Friday, October 13th, Gwynedd art students from the AP and Honors art class reported to school with an exciting journey ahead. The students took a field trip to the Rodin Museum in Philadelphia in order to learn about new pieces, artists, and techniques, as well as to create and experiment with their own skills and ideas. The girls took time exploring different famous pieces by Rodin, such as “The Thinker,” “The Gates of Hell,” “The Cathedral,” and more. The museum replicates the original Rodin Museum that was built in Paris, which also showed students a decent insight into architecture and spatial design. As a group, the students took time looking at each and every piece and then picked one to their likings and started to sketch the piece for themselves. Many different drawings and creations were made, each with a different structure and execution. The girls also got to work on some creative writing pieces, writing a five-line poem and a “stream of consciousness” writing on a desired piece of their choosing. The field trip was appreciated by all students and is an exciting new way of learning about art and delving into art history around us. Thanks to Mrs. Hohenstein for appreciating our art students, and for her desire to help them learn in creative ways!
