Ash Wednesday Liturgy

Eleanor Jones

On February 22, Gwynedd celebrated the beginning of Lent with their Ash Wednesday liturgy. All the school’s faculty, staff, and students were in attendance. The mass was led by Father Brandt, with a touching homily followed by the distribution of Ashes, along with Communion. Ashes can be received by anyone regardless of their Catholicism, welcoming a larger audience to display their Catholic faith to those present. Lent will last until Thursday, April 6th. Gwynedd encourages the weeks during Lent to act as a time for self-improvement or self-control. Treating the season with a gentle approach until the celebration of Easter teaches students the importance of the religion present in school.
