Gwynedd Mercy’s Annual Open House

Eleanor Jones

On October 2nd, 2022, Gwynedd Mercy Academy High School held their annual open house. This event is usually attended by families with students in 7th or 8th grade but students of all ages are more than welcome. As usual the majority of Gwynedd student body gave tours around the school, showing off our school’s best features.

Multiple teachers were present in classrooms to showcase the supreme academics and courses Gwynedd offers freshman, sophmores, juniors, and seniors. The music room held performances from both Girls with Guitars and the Jazz Band. Robotics presented drones, 3D printing, and laser cutting in the Learning Commons. The clubs and activities each had tables that were set up in the Gym, ranging from Volleyball, to Investment Club, to Lights and Sound. The variety of clubs and activities shown reminded families that Gwynedd has so many different things to offer for each Mercy Girl. In the Cafeteria, the school store was open for students to buy Gwynedd merch and refreshments were also set up for passers-by.

The Open House serves as a way for girls to get to know and see all the Gwynedd community has to offer. The Information Session in the Performing Arts Center made this clear. President Denise Marbach, Principal Eileen Carty, and four student representatives; Megan Meyers 23’, Maggie Baker 24’, Aiden Arrington 25’, and Caliope Beaty 25’ gave a presentation to the families. Sharing the achievements of the class of 2022 only shows what is to come for the future classes of Gwynedd Mercy Academy High School.
