Last weekend, Gwynedd Mercy Academy High School performed four sold-out shows of Beauty and the Beast! From the amazing songs to the detailed costumes, everything about the show was perfect. The show left the audience cheering loudly and applauding enthusiastically even after the curtain closed.
The show itself was split into two acts, with 12 songs in the first act and 8 songs in the second act. Some of the fan-favorite songs were “Belle,” “Gaston,” “Beauty and the Beast” and “Be Our Guest.” Before the second act came on, there was a ten-minute intermission where the audience members could go to the PAC lobby to buy food from Gaston’s Tavern or enchanted roses that would light up during the finale.
All members of the cast was dedicated to their roles and put so much work into their parts. The gold cast performed the shows on Thursday and Saturday, while the shows on Friday and Sunday starred the red cast. The cast featured students from different schools including La Salle, St. Joseph’s Prep, Springfield and Upper Dublin. There were 9 seniors in the cast: Katie Alice Lynch, Brendan Adams (Prep), Ryan Lee (La Salle), Logan Keough (La Salle), Grace Githens, Catie Baker, Maeve O’Dell, Nolyn Reilly and Caitlin Scanlon. These seniors played their roles with amazing dedication and skill. We will be sad to see them go next year!
Another important part of the show was the set design. The stage included elements like a castle, trees, little houses and lots of books for the song Belle and much more. These set designs and props added visual effects and helped bring the story to life.
The cast AND crew put so much work into this show and it turned out amazing! Beauty and the Beast was definitely a production the audience and cast will never forget!
