Gwynedd Mercy Academy celebrated their annual George Valentine raffle to celebrate Valentine’s Day and President’s Day. This is the largest fundraiser put on by the Ministry and Service Team. Not only does the raffle present an exciting afternoon with lots of baskets students and staff can win, but all proceeds go to two amazing causes. The first is Mercy Focus on Haiti, which improves the quality of life for Haitian people – specifically women which aligns with the Sisters of Mercy’s critical concern for 2024. The second organization that the Gwynedd community supports through the raffle is Mother’s Home. Mother’s Home provides a place for struggling and single pregnant women. The home empowers women who are experiencing hardships and helps them get the resources they need for themselves and their children. The money raised through buying raffle tickets benefits these impactful organizations. All week leading up to the assembly, members of GMAHS bought tickets for baskets and other special surprises, like a presidential tea party or a free yoga class at Hotbox Yoga! All raffle items were donated by staff, clubs, organizations and homerooms who are generous enough to contribute to the donation. The day after Valentine’s Day, students and staff gathered in the PAC to find out if they won any raffle items and watch the fun skits and minute to win it games put on by the student body. The fundraiser was a huge success and raised over $1,800 for our partnering charities!
