Gwynedd Tennis on a Winning Streak

Charlotte Ormond

Our Gwynedd tennis team had a fantastic start to their season in late September with a victory against Nazareth, taking the win 4-1. This winning streak continued through the next two matches, with the varsity team beating Sacred Heart and Villa Joe. Our JV

team got a chance to go up against St. Basils and came out victorious, with a score of 5-0. Varsity’s next match was against Villa Maria, and although it was a nail-biter, coming down to second doubles, Claudia Linares and Lilly Nesbitt pulled through and Gwynedd won 3-2. The team’s most recent match was against MountThey played their hardest and had some close matches, with second singles, Oliva Spector, winning her second set and having to go into a third. So far, the team has had an excellent season with a record of 7-1 and plans to keep the victories coming. Coach Lupe Prince and Coach Sylvia Cooper, along with the players, have remained flexible throughout the restrictions that Covid-19 has put on the season and spirits remain high.
