This year, students at Gwynedd Mercy Academy High School had the unique opportunity to take
their learning beyond the classroom through Gwynedd’s Internship Program. Designed to give
students real-world exposure to professional environments, the program continues to serve as a
meaningful bridge between academic life and future career paths. The Internship Program at
GMA is more than a résumé builder—it’s a transformative experience that allows students to
explore their passions, clarify their goals, and gain practical skills that will benefit them in college
and beyond. Whether placed in culinary jobs in the school kitchen, media companies, marketing
exposure, or writing positions, interns were immersed in hands-on learning environments
tailored to their specific interests. For many students, the internship was a first glimpse into their
potential futures. From observing the reality of these career paths, Gwynedd interns were
treated not just as students, but as young professionals. These placements helped solidify
career aspirations while teaching critical workplace skills like communication, collaboration, time
management, and professionalism. What makes the Internship Program so impactful is the
intentional connection between Mercy values and career readiness. Students don’t just observe,
but they learn. They learn how to lead with compassion, advocate for others, and make ethical
decisions in the workplace. The experience is deeply rooted in Gwynedd’s mission to develop
women of Mercy who are ready to lead and serve in a rapidly changing world. For students
looking ahead, the Internship Program is an invaluable opportunity not to be missed. It’s more
than a preview of the professional world—it’s a powerful first step toward becoming the leaders
in our generation.
