This February, the Gwynedd girls participated in the annual George Valentine Raffle! Thanks to the dedication of Mrs. Lawlor, Olivia Slamm and Lauren Ryan (Ministry and Service Co-Presidents)and the rest of the Ministry and Service Team, the raffle was a major success!
Due to the generosity of many students, clubs, homerooms, and teachers, 35 amazing baskets and prizes were donated. Some of the popular baskets included a Media Accessories Basket donated by Monarch Media Productions, a Sugar and Scrub basket donated by the Innovation Team, a Mystery Basket donated by Student Council and a Sol de Janiero basket donated by the Ministry and Service Team. Some other popular prizes included a Jam Session with Mr. Berger, Mr. Hanrahan and Dr. Kuyat, 4 weeks of Treats from Sr. Pat, a Raising Cane’s Lunch from the Advancement Team and Custom Pet Portraits by Ella Rocco ‘25.
All Gwynedd girls had about a week to buy raffle tickets. Because immigration is the main concern that the Ministry and Service Team focused on this year, all of the proceeds went directly to the American Red Cross, ARISE of Alamo, Texas and the Rising Stars Homework Club.
On February 21st, the whole school gathered in the Performing Arts Center for the announcement of winners. Exciting and enthusiastic energy filled the room as names of the winners were called from the stage. The talented group, Girls with Guitars, made some appearances throughout the assembly and put on a great show!
This year’s outstanding George Valentine Raffle would not have been possible without the Ministry and Service Team. Thank you to all of the people who donated prizes and supported the incredible causes!
