Two Fridays ago, Gwynedd’s very own performing arts and music department held its annual Coffee House. After hours and hours of hard work, dedication and planning done by the members of the Tri-M Music Honors Society, the night had finally come. Student singers and instrumentalists entered a gorgeous music room embellished with heart cutouts and a lit-up photo wall, and performed sweet arrangements of popular, classic and musical songs, singing and dancing the night away in celebration of the upcoming Valentine’s Day. Provided with delicious snacks and refreshments like sugar cookies and pink lemonade for the theme of holiday of love, the attending students and guests were blown away by the overwhelming amount of talent present in the room, enjoying performances such as junior Clara Glennon’s absolutely and truly heart-moving piano execution of Sebastian’s theme from La La Land, seniors Caitlin Scanlon, Dana Rietzke, Lauren Ryan and Abbie Matos’s hilarious version of “Bohemian Rhapsody” by Queen, Kaelyn Whitaker and Sophia Hunter’s jaw-dropping vocal and guitar acoustics to Billie Eilish’s “Wildflower” and so much more music to fill the calm Friday evening. A raffle basket consisting of a cozy blanket, snacks and candy and gift cards for the chilly winter season was also presented, won by our lovely seniors, Calliope Beatty and Caitlin Scanlon! It was a beautiful evening for all who attended and performed, and is a treasured tradition of the music department.
