On Sunday, November 24, Gwynedd hosted their annual Freshman Mother-Daughter Retreat led by Michelle and Grace Stetler. It was a fun event for mothers and daughters to connect and strengthen their relationships.
Everyone arrived and gathered in the gym for a fun icebreaker game. Then, Sr. Bernadette led everyone to the Chapel for a small prayer service. The prayer service focused on the special bond between mothers and daughters. We said a prayer together and listened to a meaningful song.
After the prayer service, everyone split up. The daughters talked with Michelle in the gym, and the mothers went to the chapel with Michelle’s daughter, Grace. Michelle shared her experiences of motherhood and some of the challenges moms face. Grace, having graduated from Gwynedd in 2021, explained to the moms what the girls go through during their first year of high school and some of the challenges they may face.
After about 30 minutes with Michelle and Grace, the mothers and daughters regrouped. They discussed what each group had talked about and exchanged the papers they had filled out to give to the other. Then, there was a 15-minute snack break where students enjoyed some time with their friends and moms. After this, the retreat ended in the Chapel. Everyone discussed what they had done throughout the day and reflected on what they learned. In the end, everyone had a wonderful time at the Freshman Mother-Daughter Retreat!
