The Class of 2024 refused to let their last days of school go by without a bang, and so did the rest of the school! Throughout these last four years, GMA has grown the senior class from little caterpillars to beautiful butterflies ready to soar to new heights, and every class preceding and following them as well as teachers had a part to play in their journey. Now, on the seniors’ last days of school, the entire school pitched in to wave the Class of 2024 goodbye as they spread their wings and set their eyes, minds, and hearts on the world beyond.
On Monday, the school treated their seniors to a college sweatshirt pass and Kona Ice to celebrate the exciting accomplishments of their enrollment in the perfect college for them. After a few college pictures—some specific on state or regional locations, they also realized that some friends may not be as far away as they once thought. All the while, seniors went around to get the signatures and notes from their greatest friends and favorite teachers in yearbooks and on shirts to imprint the memories of GMA in a safe place. Later in the day, they also received their gowns and stoles for Baccalaureate and tickets for their graduation guests, and with that, they went home with the last day of school in sight.
Tuesday was full of even more surprises; who wouldn’t want to start the last day of school with a party? Seniors hosted a tailgate party before school in the senior lot, coming into school with their polo shirt tie-dyed in an array of bright colors. However, the festivities did not stop there, for the seniors were soon treated to a Sand-down with the juniors at Community Period to enjoy some brunch and snacks while the juniors announced and commended some priceless Senior Superlatives. After, the seniors received a lovely cap (for decoration only!), locker poster, and a GMA pennant flag as a gift from the sophomores. Their WIN 2 only stacked a party atop it all, and seniors met up with their little sisters for some water ice and a final goodbye as they were audience to a song made just for them!
If a senior did not cry throughout the whole day, the final senior clap out was sure to get the tears flowing. Lining the halls with everyone who led the Class of 2024 to their very last day, the Gwynedd Community joined together to bid the seniors goodbye, clapping and cheering them through their last walk through the halls as a GMA student. Although many tears were shed and hugs were shared, the senior class walked out of their last day knowing that Gwynedd would always be there to welcome them home to the school built on mercy, no matter if they were a student or an alumna.
