Last weekend, the Monarch Stage Players presented Clue, the third-ever spring play (and second-ever comedy) at Gwynedd Mercy Academy High School. The show ran for three performances, with Friday and Saturday evening shows, as well as a matinee performance on Saturday. Attracting an audience consisting of people from both inside and outside of the Gwynedd community, the show was described as absolutely hilarious and the cast as incredibly talented. The students had worked very hard for the past months, and the Monarch Stage Players program allowed them to discover and strengthen their acting, teamwork and performance skills. Reflecting on Clue, Clara Glennon ’26, who blew the audience away with her remarkable performance as Wadsworth, states, “The bonds built during the production process of Clue, which established over a mere three months, will last me a lifetime. This experience has left me with a deeper understanding and respect for theatre and community, and I am walking away with lifelong friendships and memories.” Bee Hughes ’26, who brilliantly starred and shined as the French maid Yvette, says, “This show was very special because of the cast, cast size, the Gwynedd bond and the nature of the show Clue itself: how funny it was and how we were able to show ourselves in our characters.” Gwynedd’s Performing Arts department never ceases to amaze, while fostering the valuable talents of its students. Stay tuned for the Performing Arts Picnic in May, when the musical and spring play of the 2024-25 school year will be announced!
