Over the weekend, students in the Mentorship Program at Gwynedd had the privilege to enjoy brunch with their mentors and learn more about their college and professional experience. The Mentorship Program is an opportunity for seniors to prepare and plan for college and their future careers through a group of committed alumnae. The brunch was just one of the many events that was put on during the 20th Annual Alumnae weekend. To begin the afternoon, participants in the organization were greeted with a wonderful spread put on by the Gwynedd chefs. The mentors and mentees got a chance to catch up and ask questions around a delicious meal. The seniors were also given the chance to speak to other mentors, reflecting Gwynedd’s teachings of the importance of networking. As a chance for seniors to learn about other mentors aside from their own, every mentor was set up in a classroom where students could rotate through and ask questions. This interviewing process not only presented the mentees with different perspectives but could have changed their thinking on what they want their future to look like. This time for interviewing during the brunch allowed students to learn about the interview process and how to get comfortable during new situations. The Mentorship Program at GMA strives to help students advance their communication skills, networking, and find their favored professional practice. The amazing alumnae mentors are guiding lights for their senior mentees, helping them with their interviewing skills, reviewing resumes and ultimately just sharing advice from their own experiences. The Mentorship Brunch was a wonderful way to celebrate these new partnerships between current students and alumnae and a great way to start off the year. Overall, the Mentorship Program has a beautiful way of connecting current students, recent alumnae, and Gwynedd community members and the Mentorship Brunch was a wonderful way to celebrate that.
