One of the most beloved traditions at GMA for the senior and freshmen class is having big and little sisters. Each year, the senior class meets their little sisters, students from the freshmen class and they spend the entire year forming friendships. To kick off this tradition, on October 5th, the freshmen and senior class gathered in the back quad for the Freshmen-Senior social. The hour was spent getting to know each other– talking about courses, different clubs, and sports. Everyone snacked on lemonade and cookies and found that through being Mercy Girls the upperclassmen and underclassmen had a lot of similarities. The event ended with another beloved tradition of the Seniors performing a song to their little sisters. This year the girls sang a mercy version of Lean on Me. The social was a wonderful way for the sisters to get to know each other and a great way to start many beautiful friendships. Senior, Scarlett Cosgrove ‘24 reflects on the day saying, “It was a wonderful way to bond with our little sisters.” The students can’t wait for more events throughout the year and the seniors especially look forward to watching their little sisters soar at Gwynedd.
