Tennis Season Wrap Up

Charlotte Ormond

The tennis season officially finished this week with the senior night celebration on Monday, October 17. The girls had a lot to celebrate, after winning Co-Champion of the league, along with their record of 11-1 this season. This is the first time in eight years that the Gwynedd tennis team was able to beat their rival, Mount St. Joseph Academy, and share the championship with them. The Gwynedd team was able to pull through with a win at Mount’s courts earlier this month after winning the first singles (Elise Hill ’23), first doubles (Charlotte Ormond ’23 and Bebe Lemanowicz ’23), and second doubles (Angelina Spendido ’24 and Mia Urie ’24) courts. It was one of the most thrilling matches yet, with a lot riding on it, but the team was able to rally together and come out victorious over Mount. On Monday, the team also celebrated the tradition of senior night. All ten seniors, along with their parents, were recognized for their hard work and dedication to the team throughout the years. One of the senior captions, Natalie Plamondon, explains why she loves the tennis team: “Tennis season is my favorite time of the year because of the friendships made on and off the court and the amazing memories made throughout the season. It really is more than just a sport to us.” This season has certainly been a memorable one and the team is ready to continue their winning streak next year!
