Gwynedd Competes at the Penn Relays

Ashley Kane, Writer

On Thursday, April 28th, the Gwynedd Track and Field 4 x 100 and 4 x 400 teams ran at the Penn Relays at the University of Pennsylvania.  The Penn Relays is the world’s first annual relay meet that brings at least 100,000 teams and spectators each year to watch athletes compete.  The meet takes place over three days with athletes ranging from all different age levels. This year, teams from Jamaica, Puerto Rico, and almost all 50 states came to compete in this well-known event. On Thursday, the 4 x 100 team, Ashley Kane ’23, Gianna Leone ’23, Emily Morrison ’22, and Sabrina Beniquez ’23, ran a personal best at the Penn Relays with a time of 51.87 seconds.  The success continued with the 4 x 400 team, Molly McCartney ’24, Emily Morrison ’22, Sabrina Beniquez ’23, and Ellie Perry ’22, running a personal best with a time of 4:15.47 seconds.  Gwynedd Mercy is so proud of the hard work and dedication these girls put in and ending the day with four orders of Chickie’s and Pete’s fries was the perfect reward. Go Gwynedd!
